    The following modifications of this power unit are produced in the basic factory configuration:
    ● OM 541.926 and OM 541.920 – an engine with a power of 313 hp, which is intended for completing trucks of relatively low carrying capacity and operating on short and medium flights;
    ● OM 541.922 – 354 hp engine to complete trucks operating in a wide variety of conditions;
    OM 541.923 – 394 hp engine and the lowest fuel consumption among the 501 series power units;
    ● OM 541.921 and OM 541.925 – the engine with the highest power rating in the 501 series at 428 hp

    One of the features of the OM501 series motors is the Telligent electronic system. It ensures optimal distribution and adaptation of injection timing and pressure to specific engine load parameters. At the same time, the system independently determines the parameters for each cylinder separately, which has a positive effect on fuel consumption and the amount of harmful emissions.
    The technological solutions of the Mercedes OM 501LA engines, together with the Telligent system, ensure the comfort of driving the truck and an instant response to the pedal command.

    Disadvantages of the N55B30 engine

    This unit does not tolerate non-original oil and instantly cokes;
    Hydraulic lifters, Vanos and Valvetronic systems are among the first to suffer from coke;
    In these engines, the direct fuel injection system has become more reliable, but there are still a lot of failures;
    Many owners change fuel injectors and injection pumps at a mileage of less than 100,000 km;
    The main culprit for oil loss here is the crankcase ventilation valve.
